About this work
A tall crested bird stands in profile, its head crowned with a fan of orange-tipped feathers and its long beak curving downward. Its body and tail are patterned in rose, cream and olive stripes, and it stands before a stack of ornamental panels — striped red-and-white pilasters at upper left, teal geometric medallions, gilded vertical bars suggesting shafts of light, and a lower band of black tile scattered with small stars.
