About this work
A figure with large gilded wings stands facing forward, one arm raised skyward and the other extended outward, head tilted up toward a star-scattered night sky. She wears a pale blue top and a dark, star-flecked robe reaching to gold slippers, the whole pose suggesting a costumed stage performer caught mid-gesture.
The wings are built up in thick, textured gold impasto that catches the light like beaten metal, set against flat washes of deep blue and grey. The heavy paint surface and glowing metallic tone give the figure a mysterious, otherworldly presence.
