About this work
A young girl with pale braided hair, dressed in a white blouse and pink-trimmed blue pinafore, stands barefoot on a fallen, weathered tree trunk, holding a woven basket filled with berries and mushrooms. Gnarled roots curl up beside her, ferns grow in the foreground, and small mushrooms dot the shadowy ground between distant tree trunks.
