Windy day. Down village

A wide river bends beneath a wooded bluff, its gray water mirroring a heavy bank of storm clouds overhead. On the near slope, tall grass and scattered white wildflowers cover a hillside crossed by two dirt-road ruts leading toward a dense line of spruce and birch trees.

Cool grays and blue-violets dominate the turbulent sky, set against the warmer ochre and green of the grass below. Loose, textured strokes build the clouds and foliage, while thinner passes of pale paint catch the moving water; the mood is damp, gusty, and charged with an approaching storm.
