White way

An enormous, turbulent cloud formation fills most of the canvas above a low horizon of golden-brown field grass. A narrow snow-covered track curves from the foreground toward a small white building with a smoking chimney beside a pale body of water, flanked by leaning wooden poles and a weathered signpost.

Grey-white clouds are worked in broad, sweeping strokes that dwarf the thin strip of land below, while the field is built from short, dry marks of ochre and umber. The contrast between the heavy, luminous sky and the tiny inhabited point on the horizon gives the landscape a dramatic, windswept scale.
