About this work
A light, sun-bleached path curves from the foreground between a low stone wall and a leafy tree on the left, leading the eye toward rolling, forested hills; a bare, rose-and-ochre rocky outcrop rises at the center, with softer blue ridges receding behind it under a pale sky.
Warm ochre and dusty white tones dominate the road and rock face, set against cool greens and hazy violet-blue distances, applied with loose, textured brushwork and visible impasto in the foliage. Bright, even daylight and a high horizon give the scene an open, tranquil feel typical of a plein-air hillside study.
