About this work
Deep tire-rutted mud fills the foreground, crossed by a small white pickup truck, leading back to a flat channel of pale water. Beyond it lies a cluster of village houses roofed in blue, red and white, backed by a dense dark-green tree line and low hills under a hazy sky. A tall wooden pole and a shed with a slanted roof stand near the water's edge on the right.
Brushwork is loose and squared-off, laid in patches of ochre, rust, teal and forest green that read as distinct color notes rather than blended tones, typical of quick outdoor handling. The contrast between the muddy browns of the road and the cool green tree line gives the small canvas a lively rhythm despite its modest size. The overall feeling is unassuming and observational, a fragment of everyday rural life.
