About this work
A dense pile of split logs is stacked high against the wall of a wooden house, filling most of the composition. A window with a blue-violet frame sits to the left, and a brightly patterned patchwork quilt is draped over the lower logs in the foreground, with grass and a thin pole visible at the edges.
The woodpile is rendered in a rich mix of browns, greys and warm whites, each log built up with short, chunky strokes that read as chopped, textured wood. Deep green shadow surrounds the scene, against which the quilt's small squares of red, blue and white stand out as the single bright accent, giving the corner a homely, quiet mood.
