About this work
A multi-storey apartment building with a corner turret rises along an empty street receding into the distance, lit faintly under a sky dense with stars and drifting clouds. In the foreground a wrought-iron railing and lamppost frame a paved walkway where a small cat sits alone, facing the viewer.
Built entirely from fine etched hatching, the scene contrasts a near-black sky speckled with white stipple against the pale stone facade of the building. The empty street, single lamp and solitary cat give the night view a hushed, melancholic quiet.
