About this work
A peacock in profile stretches its long, eye-spotted tail across a narrow horizontal panel, its body nestled among sprays of white roses and green leaves against a soft pink ground. A bare arm and hand emerge from the upper right to rest on the trailing feathers, and pale, sculptural drapery-like forms frame the composition at either edge.
