About this work
Flat, irregular planes of color interlock across the canvas like fragments of a landscape: pale cream and ochre at upper left, a deep ultramarine channel curving through the center, and a warm orange-red mass glowing at lower right. A dark, gnarled line resembling a tree branch or root winds diagonally across the whole surface, tying the separate zones of color together.
The surface is heavily textured, with raised, cracked pigment giving a rough, weathered quality against smoother flat color. Acrylic is built up in thick, tactile layers, and the contrast between cool blue, warm red-orange, and pale neutral fields creates a bold, semi-abstract rhythm suggesting a stylized garden rather than a literal scene.
