About this work
The image is a tight, almost microscopic close-up of a sunflower's seed head, its individual cells arranged in a spiraling grid that radiates from a dark central point. Torn, pale petal-like fragments and dark shadow shapes frame the spiral at the edges; no stem, leaf or full flower outline is visible.
Golden yellow-green cells sit against black under-drawing and scraped white impasto, the surface scored and textured until the pattern reads almost as pure geometry rather than botany. Bright, even light and the tight cropping give the picture a vibrant, slightly chaotic energy.
