About this work
Flat, irregular planes of cobalt blue, green, orange and red tile the canvas like a puzzle, each cell outlined in black. In the upper right, the calm fields give way to a dense cluster of small, differently coloured squares — reds, pinks, creams, teals and purples — packed tightly together, breaking the otherwise broad, simplified shapes.
The palette is bold and saturated, built from flat, largely unmodulated colour with a few patches of textured, dabbed paint breaking the surface. Sharp black outlines function like leading in stained glass, separating each shape cleanly. The effect is decorative and rhythmic, a purely abstract arrangement of colour and pattern rather than a recognisable floral image.
