About this work
Two acoustic guitars overlap at odd angles above a scattering of café objects: a black cup and saucer, a dish rack, a yellow canister printed with a Cyrillic label naming Paul McCartney, an apple and an orange. A dark vinyl record and taut strings cut diagonally across the upper half, while the lower section rests on a wooden table edge.
The palette is largely black, white and warm wood tones, broken into hard-edged triangular facets and zebra-striped passages that fracture the space. Sharp value contrasts and angular, overlapping planes give the surface a jagged, syncopated rhythm, turning an everyday tabletop into a faceted, almost musical arrangement of shapes.
