About this work
The composition has no recognizable subject, built instead from a dense cluster of white paint flicked, dripped and splattered across the center of a dark, mottled ground. Smaller patches of muted red and ochre gather in the lower left, while heavy black masses close in at the right and along the edges.
The surface combines thin scraped grays with thick, flung white impasto, creating a strong contrast between the granular dark background and the sharp, linear splatter marks on top. The rough, gestural application and scattered specks of color give the piece a raw, energetic, almost explosive charge.
