About this work
A field of black, white and grey marks resolves into a raked, diagonal structure: a row of narrow dark vertical bars reads as steps or balusters climbing across the canvas, crossed by thin scratched lines suggesting a railing or wires. Stenciled and mirror-reversed letters, including the word "SOON" and a Cyrillic fragment, float over the composition like graffiti.
Executed almost entirely in ash-grey, black and off-white, the surface is built from dry, scraped strokes and flat stencilled letters rather than illusionistic depth. The result is a spare, graphic abstraction closer to a wall or blueprint than a picture, with a cool, unsettled, enigmatic mood.
