Sorot'

A slow river bends through a low, grassy floodplain, its dark water mirroring pale sky as reed banks and hummocks of grass line the near shore. A small wooden windmill with a ladder stands where the stream meets denser growth, and beyond it a solid band of mixed forest, its foliage streaked with autumnal red and gold, closes the horizon; a strip of open water is visible at the far left.

Warm ochre grass and cool green-blue water are set against the darker, textured mass of trees, painted with loose, confident strokes. Late, low light picks out scattered highlights in the canopy, giving the whole scene a hushed, end-of-day calm.
