About this work
Angled mirror partitions frame a narrow salon interior, its ceiling crossed by lit fluorescent beams that read like a starry sky; in the depth of the reflection a person sits at a small round table beside a red chair, while a red stool on casters and a round red wall clock punctuate the foreground.
The palette stays almost entirely within grey and black, built up with dense pencil-like hatching and dry-brush texture, so the isolated red accents of chair, stool and clock read as sharp, deliberate punctuation. Multiple mirror reflections fracture the space into overlapping planes, and the glossy floor doubles every shape again, giving the empty salon a hushed, mysterious, slightly disorienting atmosphere.
