Series "Artist and model"

A bearded man kneels on the ground, torso twisted upward, one hand raised to meet the hand of a nude woman standing over him with her hair falling loose. Her other arm curves down toward his shoulder, and their overlapping limbs and touching hands form the compositional center of the sheet.

Drawn in black ink with a fine pen line for the faces and hands and broader, mottled brushwork for the shadowed areas of skin and hair, the drawing contrasts crisp contour with soft, blotted tone. Scattered ink spatters at the lower left echo the loose, spontaneous handling, lending the intimate gesture a warm, dreamlike tenderness.
