About this work
A single standing figure is drawn from behind, weight shifted onto one leg with the other foot pointed, one arm reaching out to the side in a dance-like gesture. The head turns slightly in profile, hair gathered up, while the rest of the body is built from loose contour lines over a bare, untouched background.
Black charcoal defines the figure's contour and shading, while streaks of yellow and pink pastel float beside it like an afterimage of movement. The beige paper is left largely bare, giving the sketch an airy, unfinished quality. Confident, economical lines capture a fleeting pose with a light, spontaneous feel.
