About this work

Loose, loaded palette-knife strokes build the rock face in warm ochres and browns against a cool turquoise sea, with soft mauve and peach tones washing the sky. Thick ridges of paint give the cliffs a craggy, sunlit texture, while the water is laid in smoother, glassy passages. The mood is calm and softly luminous.
