About this work
No recognizable figures or objects appear. Broad sweeps of dark red and brown build up toward the center, thickening into ridges of dried paint. A bright orange-yellow glow burns through on the right side, a faint pale mark interrupts the upper portion, and small dim shapes near the bottom edge hint at a distant, barely legible structure.
Paint is applied thickly with a palette knife, leaving scraped, ridged textures across the entire surface. Dominant maroon and burnt sienna are pierced by the hot orange accent, creating strong tonal contrast against otherwise dark, brooding ground. The rough, smoldering surface produces an intense, dramatic mood.
