About this work
Tall deciduous trees with dark, twisting trunks fill a park clearing, their canopies turned deep orange and rust while a few evergreens keep their green. Scattered leaves cover the ground in a thick golden carpet, and a gravel path curves away between the trunks toward a paler, hazier stand of trees in the distance.
Warm oranges and rust reds dominate against a pale, overcast sky, with cooler greens threaded through the underbrush. Light falls evenly and softly, and the paint is built up in dense, textured strokes that render each cluster of leaves almost decoratively, lending the scene a hushed, wistful quiet.
