About this work
Deep ruts left by tractor wheels curve across a field where patches of melting snow remain among bare earth and dry grass. Beyond the field a low line of trees catches warm orange light along its edge, while dark evergreens stand at the far left and a heavy grey sky presses down over the whole scene.
The palette stays muted throughout, grey-blue sky and brown-black earth broken only by the glowing orange strip of trees. Paint is applied in loose, textured strokes that build up the snow and mud, creating a quiet, damp, late-winter atmosphere.
