About this work

A single fishing vessel occupies most of the frame, its hull painted in cream and pale ochre with patches of rust and weathering visible along the bow and cabin. Rigging lines and a mast rise from the deck, silhouetted against a dark, greenish sky. Below, the boat is mirrored in still water, its reflection broken into soft vertical streaks alongside faint pink and white highlights.

Deep blue-greens and muted golds dominate the palette, applied with thick, confident strokes that catch the last light on the hull. The dark, encroaching tones of water and sky give the scene a quiet, subdued atmosphere, while the reflections add a shimmering, restless texture to the calm surface. The mood is hushed and contemplative.
