Numerous slender pine trunks rise vertically through the composition, their bark textured with lichen and shadow, forming a screen through which patches of sky and foliage appear. A sandy, needle-strewn path curves through the trees toward a bright clearing on the right, where a strip of blue water and distant shoreline are visible.

Deep blue-greens and rust-brown trunks dominate, with cooler blues threading through the middle distance and warm ochre in the sunlit earth underfoot. Thick, textured strokes render bark and foliage with vigorous, direct brushwork, creating a shaded, contemplative woodland atmosphere.
