About this work

Dense, fine hatching models the horse's harness, the men's robes, and the textured stone wall, concentrating the darkest values around the horse and central figures and leaving the upper background lighter and more open. The tight circular composition and the tense gesture between rider and supplicant give the print a solemn, dramatic charge.
