About this work
A balding, bearded man kneels with his weight on one leg, twisting to look upward as he raises one hand above his head, fingers pinched together as though holding or plucking something unseen. His other hand hangs low, clutching a crumpled scrap of fabric, while loose diagonal hatching behind him suggests a bare, undefined space.
Scored in dense networks of fine drypoint lines, the print builds form entirely through crosshatching and directional scratches, leaving broad areas of untouched paper for light. The nervous, sketch-like linework and the figure's twisted, off-balance pose give the scene an agitated, unsettled air.
