About this work
A near-black vertical band splits the sheet like a shadowed doorway. To its left, a mottled, woven-textured patch holds a soft pale glow; to its right, fine vertical scratches form a grid like a lattice or fence. The upper edge fades into a plain ochre wash, while the lower portion darkens further.
Sepia and umber tones cover the surface with a heavy, stippled grain, crossed by scratched lines that build the structure. Silver-pencil highlights catch inside the darker band, and the enclosed, hushed composition feels like a glimpse down a dim interior passage.
