About this work
Tall trees with sparse gold foliage cross a small park in autumn light, their dark trunks framing a rose- and ochre-colored domed building glimpsed through the branches. In the middle distance a pale statue or fountain stands on a path, with a few small figures walking nearby. The ground is carpeted in fallen orange and yellow leaves, thinning toward the foreground.
Brushwork is loose and broken, dabs of yellow-green and pink laid directly over darker underpainting to suggest fluttering leaves.
