About this work
A low embankment stretches along a still river, a pale building with a rounded gable standing at its center flanked by leafless, scribbled trees and distant spires fading into haze. The far bank barely emerges from the fog, and faint figures can be made out crossing near the water's edge.
Soft blue-grey and pale ochre washes dominate, applied with a dry, broken touch that leaves the cardboard ground visible throughout. Dark calligraphic lines describe branches and reflections, giving the misty view a hushed, dreamlike stillness.
