About this work
A pale, rounded form hangs centrally, suspended among a dense screen of dark vertical lines reading as strings, branches, or falling shadow; pink and white passages suggest the plucked body of a bird, its outline half-dissolved into the surrounding texture. The setting is undefined, more a field of vertical marks than a real space.
The canvas is worked into a crumpled, foil-like relief so dark greens, blacks and deep purples catch light unevenly across the folds. Pale pink and white impasto mark the hanging form, while thin drips run downward through the composition. The mood is heavy and elegiac, closer to a study of texture and shadow than literal description.
