About this work
Irregular tessellated patches of jade, emerald and sage green are pieced together into a loose landscape structure: a grey-brown mass and a white triangular peak sit above a dark horizontal band, while a deep teal swath and softer mint fields spread below. A blue-green oval, ringed by cream, sits at the center of the lower field, and a mustard-yellow ribbon crosses the bottom right corner.
Thick acrylic is built up over a pitted ivory ground, its surface crazed like glazed ceramic tile with heavy black fissures tracing every cell edge. The matte, earthy palette is broken by small coral and ochre accents, and the raised, pockmarked texture gives the flat color fields real physical weight, producing a quiet, contemplative density.
