About this work
Layered horizontal bands of warm ochre and umber cross the sheet, broken by scratched diagonal lines in the lower left and fragments of stenciled capital letters in the upper right corner. A dark, inky wash pools along the bottom edge, interrupting the otherwise even, sanded surface.
Built up with silver pencil and mixed media over toned paper, the surface is dry-scratched to expose lighter ground beneath the wash, keeping the palette to warm browns and near-black accents. The worn, weathered texture and quiet, uneven light give the sheet a hushed, contemplative feel.
