About this work
The canvas is divided into four panels forming one continuous gym interior: at left a line of women jog on tilted treadmills receding in steep perspective, while at right a muscular man is seen from behind gripping a barbell across his shoulders, a dark kettlebell resting near his feet. Further figures jog and walk in the background, sketched as flatter, smaller silhouettes.
Rendered in muted terracotta, olive-green and grey tones with hard-edged, simplified forms, the picture flattens space into overlapping geometric planes reminiscent of a poster or mural design.
