About this work

A nude female figure is drawn from behind, standing with both arms stretched wide and her weight balanced on one raised foot, as if caught mid-turn. The loose, gestural lines trace the curve of her spine, hips, and legs against the bare tone of the paper, with no background details beyond the figure itself.

Black charcoal contours are built up in rapid, overlapping strokes, accented with touches of white pastel on the shoulders and hair to suggest light. The warm beige paper is left largely exposed, giving the drawing an unfinished, spontaneous energy typical of a quick life study.
