"Elders"

Five bald or balding old men stand shoulder to shoulder, bare-chested above worn trousers, their ribs and collarbones sharply visible. One in the center supports himself on a cane while another turns his back to the viewer; each face is etched with deep lines of exhaustion or resignation.

Rendered purely in fine etched hatching on cream paper, the drawing builds volume through crosshatched shading, leaving faces and gaunt torsos starkly modeled against a bare background. The unflinching linework and thin, worn bodies create a mood of quiet suffering and dignity.
