About this work
Assembled objects fill the frame: stacked film canisters and a curling filmstrip, a 1943 magazine cover of a smiling pilot, a yellow star patch marked 'Jude,' two labeled portrait photographs of women with eyes blacked out, a leather-cased vintage camera, two wedding rings, and an open handwritten diary dated May 1920 in London beside a pencil sketch portrait of a woman.
Sepia and muted brown tones dominate, with aged-paper textures and torn edges suggesting weathered documents rather than paint; the arrangement is a flat collage of photographs, print and handwriting rather than a painted scene. Title and author lettering sit over the composition, marking it as book-cover art; the tone is somber and archival.
