About this work
A large fish-like form fills an oval field, its body built from overlapping panels of textured paper and foil in deep blue, bronze and gold. Small round shell fragments and beaded dots scatter near its head and fins, while a thin curved rod crosses the upper left like a fishing line. The oval rests on a dark, richly textured copper-and-blue ground, suggesting a creature suspended in deep water.
Built up as a mixed-media collage, the surface combines painted paper, metallic foil and fine incised patterning to create a mosaic of scales, waves and circular ripples. Cool blues meet warm coppers and golds in a glowing, tactile relief, and the layered textures give the fish a dreamlike, otherworldly quality.
