About this work
An abstracted beach view: a pale pink cloud mass floats at upper right above muted grey, dune-like forms and a dark vertical post at left; below, a band of blue and teal suggests shallow water, with dark clustered shapes and scattered white marks reading as shells or driftwood along the shore.
Rendered almost entirely in thick, knife-applied impasto of taupe, grey, dusty pink and blue-green, the forms are suggested rather than delineated, edges dissolving into the textured ground. The muted tonal range and soft, even light give the scene a quiet, dreamlike hush.
