About this work
A bearded man's face fills the sheet, rendered frontally and almost symmetrically, with long tangled hair and beard drawn in loose, scratchy ink lines. The eyes stare directly outward beneath furrowed brows, and the mouth is slightly parted beneath a heavy mustache. Small drops and splatters of dark ink scatter across the lower left corner.
The drawing is built from wiry, energetic pen lines over broad washes of amber on one side of the face and dusky violet on the other, letting the white paper read as highlight. The contrast between fine linework and loose bleeding color gives the face an intense, watchful presence.
