About this work
A tall building with a decorative cast-iron fence along its roofline stretches across the right side of the canvas, its facade catching pale light. Rows of thin, leafless trees with faint green touches line the pavement in front, and a parked car sits at lower left on the otherwise empty street.
The palette is pale and hazy, greys, sandy ochre and soft green worked in loose, dry strokes that leave much of the canvas in a misty, unresolved blur. Diffuse overcast light and soft edges give the street a quiet, still, early-spring atmosphere.
