About this work
Several masted sailing vessels are moored in the middle of a small harbor, their rigging rising against a row of waterfront buildings that includes a tall brick tower on the right and awning-covered stalls along the quay. Small rowboats bob in the foreground on the right, and the green-blue water carries loose reflections of hulls and masts.
Bright turquoise water and pale sky contrast with the warm brick reds and greys of the buildings, applied in crisp, confident strokes with a loaded brush. Strong daylight and clear color give the harbor a fresh, energetic feel.
