About this work
Worked almost entirely in dense dotted and hatched ink lines over a pale ground, the sheet shows a group of robed women walking together on the left and, on the right, a seated mother cradling a child beside a man reaching toward them, his head ringed by a burst of radiating strokes. Faint architectural lines and a grid float in the background.
Watercolor is used sparingly, in thin pink and ochre washes that barely tint the ink web, keeping the image nearly monochrome. The dense, thread-like contours dissolve solid form into a shimmering, unstable outline rather than modeled volume, giving the composition a fragile, dreamlike stillness closer to a half-remembered vision than a fixed scene.
