Autumn birches

Viewed from below, a dense line of thin birch and aspen trunks rises into a canopy of orange, yellow and green autumn leaves that fills most of the composition. Behind the branches, patches of vivid blue sky show through heavy, wind-swept white clouds, so that trees and sky interlock across the whole canvas.

Thick palette-knife strokes build both foliage and clouds into a single rugged texture, with bold orange and yellow set directly against saturated blue and white. The vigorous, energetic brushwork and high color contrast give the autumn scene a dramatic, almost turbulent energy rather than quiet stillness.
