About this work
Soft rounded shapes in warm gold and cream are loosely stacked down the center of a tall canvas, faintly suggesting a pile of fruit rather than depicting it in detail. No table, vase or background object is clearly legible; the forms hover against a pale olive ground.
A narrow range of ochre, cream and pale pink is built up in thin scumbled layers and occasional heavier knife marks, with soft edges throughout. The restrained, almost monochrome handling turns the still life into a quiet study of light and warm color rather than of distinct objects.
