About this work
A large, contorted form dominates the upper two-thirds of the image, its folded, sinewy surface studded with small embedded faces and a single staring eye near the top. Lower down, more distorted heads with bared teeth cluster within its hollows. Far to the right, a small robed figure walks alone across an empty, star-flecked plain.
Heavy black ink and dense stippling model the creature's twisting, muscular folds, leaving the night sky speckled with light dots like scattered stars. The tiny, isolated walking figure against the vast dark mass produces a brooding, menacing atmosphere.
