About this work
A large willow tree dominates the composition, its slender branches sweeping downward and to the side as if caught mid-breeze. It stands at the edge of an open green meadow, flanked by lighter foliage and shrubs, with further trees receding toward a low horizon. Above, a pale blue sky is filled with a large, rounded white cloud.
The scene is built from loose, visible brushstrokes in varied greens, from silvery sage to deep olive, set against the bright blue of the sky and soft white of the cloud. Light falls from above, brightening the meadow and the cloud's edges while leaving the willow's canopy in cooler shadow. The handling is fluid and atmospheric, giving the whole a breezy, sunlit calm.
