About this work
A cluster of thin, white, stick-like marks radiates across the upper-left portion of the canvas, mixed with jagged orange and rust fragments over a dark grey-black ground. Below and around this burst, the surface turns rougher and more chaotic, scattered with small orange shards. To the right a broad, unbroken field of pale cream paint stands apart, calm against the surrounding turbulence.
Loaded, dragged brushwork and scraped palette-knife strokes build a rough, splintered texture across most of the composition, while the pale right side is smoothed flat by comparison. Grays, blacks and burnt orange dominate, punctuated by the bright white slivers that give the piece its energy. The overall rhythm is quick and agitated, like debris caught mid-motion.
