About this work
In the corner of a sunlit interior, the diagonal shadow of a window frame slices across a warmly lit wall. In the shadowed foreground at left, a small teal-green wooden box and a hand-painted ceramic plate rest on a wooden ledge, while low on the bright wall at right, a faint shadow resembling a bird appears near the baseboard.
Warm ochre and cream light pushes against cool violet-grey shadow, built up with loose, textured strokes across the plaster wall. The sharp geometric shapes of shadow read almost like flat graphic cutouts against the softer painted surfaces. The interplay of light and dark gives the quiet corner a watchful, faintly mysterious tension.
